Extia Clubs: development of skills other than work
2024-01-01
As a result of our commitment to strengthening our community and integrating the company's culture with Spanish culture, various initiatives have emerged among the Extians in Spain:
The Sports Club:
We delight in sharing the hobbies and talents of our Extians, using these opportunities to organize collective activities and workshops. Employees at Extia Spain come together to participate in various sports, including:
Yoga
Led by Caterina, a UX designer who has a yoga certification.
Fitness
Organized by Guillaume, who is passionate about sports.
Beach Volleyball
A group that gathers every Wednesday during the summer on the beach near the office.
Climbing
Held once a week at a local facility.
Extia y los idiomas
Extia Spain thrives in an international environment, boasting employees from 7 different countries (France, Portugal, Spain, Argentina, Colombia, USA, and Lebanon), each bringing their unique culture and language. This diversity inspired the creation of the Language Club, spearheaded by Fiona. Currently, we offer English, French, Spanish, and Catalan classes once a week, each led by native speakers on a completely voluntary basis. It provides an environment where colleagues can share culture and language. This initiative not only allows employees to learn and exchange languages, thereby enhancing internal communication, but it also fosters understanding and respect for cultural diversity within the company.
“Do it Yourself”
A sewing and Do-It-Yourself club led by Clementine offers craft and creativity workshops, motivating life into the office whenever there's an opportunity for decoration. For instance, this year, the group repurposed materials from previous events to create Halloween decorations.
Chess Club
Any doubt that the club that is generating the best competition environment among the Extians of the Barcelona office is the chess club. Several employees engage in games in a designated area of the office and organize tournaments among themselves.
Reading Club
The Barcelona offices have inaugurated a shared library, "ExtiaReads," initiated by Carmen, HR in Spain. This project is created to purpose books that are unusable at home and give them another life in the office. The concept is straightforward: Extians contribute books so they have the chance to borrow those brought in by their colleagues. This initiative provides an opportunity to share and exchange reviews of their readings and favorite authors.
