Use it Again! logbook – Episode 3
2021-12-20
December 2021 - storm warning:
In our last episode, we announced the first stage of the Use It Again! project: the departure of the trimaran from La Trinité-sur-Mer to Cadiz, where the adventure was supposed to start.
But as you may know, there is no great navigation without the whims of the sea.
With a departure initially planned for Sunday, November 28th in the direction of Cadiz, our sailors were ready to cast off. However, in order to leave in good conditions and avoid any accident that could jeopardize the record, a green weather code is essential. That day, unfortunately, it was a red code that affected Brittany, preventing our skippers from setting off towards Cadiz.
At the same time, the evolution of the sanitary situation linked to the COVID-19 represented an additional obstacle to the departure of the sailors: indeed, sailing to a foreign starting line had become riskier in case of border closure.
Something unexpected? No problem! Our sailors are not lacking in agility and are certainly not the type to let themselves be defeated. Plan A falls through? No problem, they already have a plan B! In order to limit the risks, Alex Pella and Romain Pilliard will leave from Lorient as soon as the weather conditions allow it.
And since opportunities often rise from difficulties, the entire Use It Again! team is taking advantage of these few days to ensure greater safety on the boat, to solve the last technical details or to check the presence of the necessary equipment in case of an accident. Therefore, several tons of equipment and supplies are still being carried on board.
While waiting for a departure date soon, the pretty fluorescent orange hulls of the trimaran continue to be noticed on the pier of Trinité-sur-mer.
See you soon for the continuation of Alex and Romain's adventures!
